India has paid homage to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the man who led the country’s peaceful campaign for independence from Britain.

Nilamben Parikh, his great-granddaughter, on Wednesday marked the 60th anniversary of the assassination of the man known as Mahatma or “Great Soul” by pouring an urn of his ashes into the sea.
