The UN secretary general has said that the world organisation will set up a top-level task force to tackle the global food crisis.

Ban Ki-moon said on Tuesday that he agreed with UN agency chiefs on a series of measures for the medium and long terms.

Ban, who will lead the task force, said the first priority would be meeting the $755 million shortfall in funding for the World Food Program (WFP).
